Hey hey hey!!! Guess what holiday is coming up soon? That's right, Hanukkah! Well, I'm not Jewish, so merry Christmas!!

Omg!! We live in Maryland, so, WHO WOULD THINK IT WOULD SNOW IN DECEMBER??? We usually don't get at least non stick flurries until around late January!! On top of that, what we got Friday night weren't flurries, WE GOT SNOW SNOW, BABY!! Saturday the snow was perfect for packing, (snowballs, snow men, ramps,...). But today, everything froze overnight so the slightly iced over snow was perfect for sledding!!!! I went to the bestest/fastest/scariest/most dangerous hill on my street, and lets just say that was, THE BEST 3 HOURS OF MY LIFE!! Even though i almost got frost bite and my pinkey toes swelled, and it hurt when i walked...

Life Is Beautiful

Your right. Life is so beautiful. There are so many little things in life that I feel people don't appreciate well enough. For example:
  • When you find that last bit of Halloween candy in that bag you never use.
  • Or when you catch that thing that you were trying to get off that shelf, right before it hits the ground.
  • Maybe when you find your lost IPod a half an hour before that 8 hour road trip!
  • Or when after a black out, you realize that end-of-year paper that you were writing saved itself.
I am just trying to say that we should appreciate the little things more. well, it's not like you guys wouldn't, anyway. awww, your all great!!! :):):) I repeat:Life Is Beautiful!!!

just to let you know...

Have you noticed the new guess the number box? Just to let you know do NOT, NOT, NOT, go on the website it will tell you to go to if you win. (For the record, I did not originally go on the site, I got the game from somewhere else.) Also, if the number does not change, then I will take it down.

~Running from weird sites, Robin

P.S. I'm going to get braces on the 29th! ;D
P.S.S.Uhhh... I just made this post like, five minuets ago, tried the number thing again, and I clicked the "X" on the box that says if I want to go there. Guess what it did? The site pops up as if I did not press the "X" button at all! So I press the back button, and it bloops to my blog and then back to the site!!! So I did it again and it did the same! Again and Again! grrrr!! So I took it off. (Tee hee to the site:))

Why flounders are funny

I just got a interesting comment for an earlier post: Imponderables. Ok, here it goes...

Why do flounders have both eyes on the same side of their head?

I actually know the answer to that! Long story short, here's why: First, you would have to know that their color, can help disguise them from other fish that could eat them. You would also have to know that they have a near flat body. So, when a predator comes near, it can easily swim to the sandy bottom and disguise it self. There would be only one problem, who would want all that sand in your eye, especially if you're hiding! Thus the both eyes on the same side of the head thing! :)

So there is your answer.

a small announcement

I just have two small announcements:
  1. Yes, I do have the power to change what the Kitties look like. Until I figure out how to get more taen one on my blog, I can change which cat is on the screen. In the last post, I gave a link to the site I can get them from. So if you go there, and find a cat you like, then you could post a comment with the cat's name. If you do then I will change it to that cat until I get another request.
  2. Did you notice the new fish pond? I can also change the colors of those! If you want me to change those as well, well you get the point. You can also feed those fish, by just clicking on your mouse in the box.

my kitty!

I have made a little, but awesome, change to Life as I know It.
Want to guess?

Ok, here is is: Check the top left corner of your screen. See her? A colorful, little cat! She loves to play, she especially likes to play "chase the mouse". If you would like to play with her, then click her once and move your mouse around so she can chase it! Just click her again to stop the game. I also need to re-name her. Her original name was colorful, but as the cool cat she is, I think she deserves more. ;) if you have any ideas, then feel free to post a comment! Oh, and here is the link to the website I got my cat from.

bugs, bugs, bugs!

Ugh! I'm so mad! (And itchy.) Who else out there has a huge mosquito problem like I do? the kind where you wake up in the morning scratching your arms off? I guess it's so bad for my mom, my little sister and I, because we are slightly more allergic than other people. Oh, and we also have giant flies in our house. Honestly, I don't know how many we have in our house, 'cause i think one drowned in my dad's O.J. last night. But if you have the same problem, or can help, please, please, please post a comment about it!

~Really tired of bugs Robin

P.S. Yes, we do have fruit flies too. But my mom found a way to trap them. Here's how:
  1. first get some apple cider vinegar, and pour it in a plastic cup.
  2. next, put some plastic wrap over the cup.
  3. poke small holes in the top of the plastic wrap.
  4. last, put near a place where your fruit flies go the most
The fruit flies will smell the apple cider vinegar and will crawl in to the holes. Eventually they will figure out that they can't get out. After holding on for to long they fill fall in to the apple cider vinegar. One down, a thousand more to go.

Lost at lunchtime

"Well, when I started middle school, I was nervous about where to sit during lunch. I knew from orientation that the cafeteria was really big and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find my friends. I REALLY don't want to be walking around with a lunch tray and not be able to find my friends."

Here's my advice:
I guess it could be kinda awkward wandering around the cafeteria. So here are some things that I would suggest:
  • If you have class with the friends you were planing to sit with right before lunch, then why don't you walk to lunch with those friends?
  • But if you don't, then call your friends ahead of time and think of a place to sit there. (Just try to remember where the tables were from orientation, ie: near the back door, by the lunch line...)
  • Oh, and are you really going to look that odd if you can't find your friends? A whole bunch of people are starting middle school too, probably with the same fear you do!

Got the blues?

Got the back to school blues? What's wrong? I will be glad to give advice to anyone who posts a comment about their back to school blues. I'll wait five days, and then give advice to anyone who asked for it. Oh, and i guess you could post a non school related problem too.

~Respectfully (again) Robin

need some summer fun?

What screams summer fun more then a slip-and-slide or running through the sprinklers? Here's something most people have probably not tried, why not put the sprinkler under a trampoline? This is how I've been spending my last days of summer. You have got to try it! Even if you're an adult, let loose!

Another thing, who's had a good BBQ recently? My dad has one almost every week! He invites his friends, and sometimes i invite my friends too. eventually, we all sit down to a dinner of BBQ'd hot dogs and hamburgers!

Imponderables!

What is an imponderable? Well, the way I see it, it is something often pondered about. But most people don't know the answer! Here are some of my home made imponderables:

  • If you are drawing a picture of water, why is it always blue?
  • Why do we put apples on a teacher's desk?
  • What in hairspray or hair gel makes your hair stick together?
  • Why are digital watch lights usually blueish or greenish?
I got this idea from the series of Imponderables books by David Feldman (highly suggested). If you have a good imponderable, and would like an answer, (or you have an answer to one of mine)then just post a comment!

P.S. here are some of my personal favorites from the book, with answers!

  • If you turn up the radio will the batteries drain faster? Yes. Three times faster.
  • Why do paper-cuts hurt so much? Well, you have the most nerve endings in your hands, which is the place you usually would get a paper cut. Also, I think you should keep cuts moist to heel faster.
  • Do penguins have knees? Yes! Their feathers just cover them up!
  • why do dogs tilt there heads if you talk to them? In their language, it means they are listening to you! Plain staring means they are showing aggression and if they look away, then we could assume they are not listening.

Help Inspire Me

I had always liked art as a little kid, and of course, I still do! I have also noticed that I haven't gotten much better. For example, I've been drawing the same "lollipop" tree for seven years! :( Any help, please? All I need is a little inspiration and cool stuff to draw.

What's your specialty...
  • nature?
  • manga?
  • animals?
  • cartoons or comics?
  • anything???

Please leave a comment if you know anything either inspiring, or fun/easy to draw. Thanks!!!

Respectfully, Robin

The Pond at Brookside Gardens

There is so much to do in summer time, not all of it can be done. For instance have you ever...

  • frozen grapes? (I hear they're good!)
  • biked around in the rain?
  • gone to your local botanical garden?
In fact, I did go to my local botanical garden. Yes it was kinda hot, but boy was it worth it! There is so much to do, like going to the Wings of Fancy Butterfly Show. Talk about flying colors! There are long walks, fountains, a Japanese Tea House overlooking a pond, a labyrinth(fun for kids), and even a Children's Garden! It just makes me wonder, what do you have in your area?

What have YOU done for fun this summer, and what would YOU suggest other people visit?
